Anonymous asked: *trigger warning* I've been a sex worker for several years, and it isn't exactly a secret of mine. The other day I was at the surgery for a routine visit, and I accidentally let it slip to him that I'm an escort. The doctor then started to fondle me and let his hands graze over my nether regions. I've been arrested before for soliciting on street corners, so going to the police isn't really an option. What should I do? This may be hard for you to hear, but you need to hear it. What happened to you is sexual assault. Reporting to the police is never fun, usually unhelpful, and potentially dangerous, but if you’re able to do it, we recommend it (for many reasons). If going to law enforcement absolutely isn’t an option, please contact a counselor or crisis center for help. Please talk to someone, please. You don’t deserve to be assaulted. Letting it slip that you happen to be a sex worker isn’t reason, right, or invitation to touch you sexually. Your doctor assaulted you - and in our opinion, he should be punished for it. We’re so incredibly sorry this happened to you. We’re so sorry, love. Unfortunately, as we all know, there is virtually no real justice or help in our world for victims of rape and assault (especially for sex workers), but we do believe that there is strength in numbers, and for every victim who stands up and tells his, her, or their story, it paves the road to real justice (and safety) a little more. Good luck, take care of yourself, and let us know how we can help you. |
